My digital art mainly consists of digital images, web sites, and Flash animations. Graphic design, while much of it is done on a computer, I consider to be a separate discipline, and in my work serves a different purpose. Generally my graphic design projects are commercially-oriented, and are not "fine art" even though my training as an artist finds its way into both venues. For a further description of what I mean by "digital art", click here (will open in a new window). I will add more portfolio pieces to this page as time permits, but for now here is a a sampling...

web design
These are the professional web sites I've designed, co-designed, and/or maintain, along with bryanbird.com.
North Ridgeville City Schools in North Ridgeville, Ohio
http://www.nrcs.k12.oh.us
August 2005 - Present
Although an NRCS staff member updates the content of the site (graphics, text, tables), I produced the new banner graphic and organized the previous jumbled mess of category buttons into an easily-navigable menu bar. I also created a template to standardize the school home pages (e.g., Lear North, Wilcox). The most challenging part of this project was figuring out how to make the site do what we wanted while still being easily editable with Microsoft FrontPage so I wouldn't have to do daily content updates. The menu bar was created with DHTML Menu Studio, an awesome, easy-to-use piece of software.
St. Paul United Church of Christ in Elyria, Ohio
http://stpaulucc.tripod.com
1997 - Present
I originally designed this site in 1997, and redesigned it with its current theme in 2000. In 2002 I reorganized it and added new content.

macromedia flash
These sites require the Macromedia Flash plugin, which is available for download here. You may already have it installed.

I Can't Believe I Didn't Shower!
http://icbids.bryanbird.com
This is a site for a ficticious product called "I Can't Believe I Didn't Shower!" This is best viewed with a fast internet connection.
Why Does The Sun Shine?
http://wdtss.bryanbird.com
I took the recording of "Why Does The Sun Shine?" performed by They Might Be Giants and added Flash animation. The movie is 818 KB, but will only play after the entire file is loaded, so it still works on slow connections (if you're patient enough to wait for it to load).
